Buttermilk Syrup

On Christmas day, my children always come over for breakfast/brunch. The menu is not always the same, but it's usually some kind of egg dish (quiche, breakfast pizza, etc.) and french toast or pancakes. One thing that is always the same is Buttermilk Syrup. It is so good that I just want to eat it with a spoon!

Buttermilk Syrup

1 cube butter

1 cup sugar

1 cup buttermilk

1 Tbsp. vanilla

1 Tbsp. corn syrup

1/2 tsp. baking soda

Bring first five ingredients to a boil. Add baking soda. Boil 10 seconds and remove from heat immediately to avoid boil over. I use a fairly deep, heavy pan.
